The annual ecumenical Dappleford Christmas Tree Festival takes place on Friday 8, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 December.
The venue for this year's Festival is Wesley, Dappleford. Opening hours are: Friday 7-9, Saturday 10-4, Sunday 12-4. The Festival will be opened by Cllr Belinda Morrison, this year's Mayor of Dappleford, and there will be a short closing service led by the vicar of St Mungo's, the Rev'd Jeremy Sturgeon.
Christmas trees are being decorated by Dappleford churches, primary schools, many local businesses and a number of voluntary organisations. The local vet advertised 'spaying before Christmas' on its tree last year, and a local garage tempted visitors with a 'festive MOT'. What will this year bring?
The Christmas Tree Festival always attracts lots of visitors, as well as generating great enthusiasm in the churches. Last year one visitor asked, why is the Christmas tree such an important symbol for the church? Unfortunately, no one had an answer.
