The Privett Street Lunch Club has served its 10,000th lunch.
Begun nine years ago by Agnes Blacker and team, the Lunch Club has served lunches every Thursday ever since. Initially, lunches were simple; latterly they have become more and more elaborate. Simple or not, they've always been enjoyed by the Lunch Club clientele. The 10,000th lunch was a three-course meal: leek soup, sausage casserole and seasonal vegetables and apple crumble & cream. According to Jack, a happy Lunch Club customer,
"You'll not get a better meal anywhere in Dappleford ... except at the Baptists."
Here's to the next ten thousand.
